Secretary Chavez-DeRemer statement on May jobs report

Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

In the week ending May 31, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 247,000, an increase of 8,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised down by 1,000 from 240,000 to 239,000. The 4-week moving average was 235,000, an increase of 4,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised down by 250 from 230,750 to 230,500.

United States seeks review of alleged denial of rights at automobile wheel manufacturer in Mexico

WASHINGTON – The United States today requested that the government of Mexico review an alleged denial of workers’ rights at Superior Industries Inc., a manufacturer of aluminum automobile wheels in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The request follows a May 5, 2025, petition filed by the Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Transformación, Construcción, Servicios y Comercio en General, a Mexican union associated with Confederación Autónoma de Trabajadores y Empleados de México.
